After the felted poppies, the red felt sheets having been made during workshops and the poppies shapes cut out, had been scattered over the 100 laid out puttees, each puttee was gathered with the poppies on and near to it into a bag ready for the next stage: the sewing on of the poppies.
Continue readingOn Tuesday 14 August the poppies were scattered onto the 100 puttees in Salisbury Cathedral’s grounds. This was a very moving and thought provoking experience. The puttees laid out gave the feeling of a cemetary, the poppies falling representing the fallen soldiers, falling randomly, poppies growing in the battle fields randomly. https://www.salisburycathedral.org.uk/content-themes/arts
